Kids Take Over!!!

Last week we sat down together and planned how the kids were going to take over the classes learning.
I was very impressed with the ideas they came up with.
We have grouped them into MUST do and CAN do.


Literacy MUST DO'S

       Create a storybird
Gather a group of people, select a play and perform it to the class.
Complete a phonics worksheet.
        Read a poems, recite it to the class, illustrate it for display.
        Write a review, presented on either hard or digital copy.
       Create a poster about an aspect of safety.
  Write a story of your choice and publish it

  Create a diorama and use it to write an imaginative piece of writing

Numeracy MUST DO's:

Ø  Design and complete a statistical investigation
Ø  Complete a number knowledge worksheet at your stage
Ø  Create a poster that explains a skills with fractions
Ø  Do some buddy testing to prepare for basic facts race
Ø  Create a “Who am I” display for shapes and/or fractions
Ø  Design and create a shape castle
Ø  Design and make a picture that is made of shapes




Our biggest learning this week has been around our key competencies

  • Relating to Others
  • Participating and Contributing
  • Thinking
  • Using languages, symbols and text
  • Managing Self
From the beginning of the week till now, there has been huge improvements and lots of celebrations!  We have worked through our challenges, solved our design problems and learnt how to listen to each others ideas.  Such a wonderful sight to see the satisfaction on the kids faces when they achieve their aims.
Congratulations kids!!!!  Your TEAMWORK and CREATIVITY is amazing!!!!!

Ashleigh working hard on her math creation!  It is a very complex castle full of different areas.

Mckenzie has designed a temple and used it to create stained glass windows for her and Recko's castle.  It is amazing!

Jade and Kate are sharing their expertise and making a help chart to find fractions of a group.

Skylia and Riki-Lee overcame challenges to create an interesting castle, they are now working on the embellishments.

Maia and Sophia are working on a shape picture, it is a very complicated series of shapes that create a jungle scene.  Makayla is working on her "Who am I"
Jack and Benjamin are working on a fortress for their creative castle.
