Our Stride

We worked together to measure our stride in maths.

Bye Bye to our friend Declan!

It is a sad day today, we say good-bye to a great friend.
Declan is leaving out team today and we will miss him terribly.
He very kindly brought treats for our class so we had a wee party.
This is the picture that Declan chose to remember us by, sums us up quite well we think.

Hunter giving Declan a high five to say thanks and see ya.

Todd is going to miss his mate.

We wish you all the best for your new adventure and don't forget to write to us!

Lip Sync Challenge

Charlotte R, Alisha, Jade, Charlie and Zavana are working on making a music video.  This is the first song they have chosen and we are working towards a digi award entry.

Work hard, work as a team and stick to your plan.

Hey, once upon a younger year
When all our shadows disappeared
The animals inside came out to play
Hey, when face to face with all our fears
Learned our lessons through the tears
Made memories we knew would never fade
One day my father—he told me, "Son, don't let it slip away"
He took me in his arms, I heard him say,
 "When you get older
Your wild life will live for younger days
Think of me if ever you're afraid."
He said, "One day you'll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember.
" My father told me when I was just a child
These are the nights that never die
My father told me
When thunder clouds start pouring down
Light a fire they can't put out
Carve your name into those shinning stars
He said, "Go venture far beyond the shores.
Don't forsake this life of yours.
I'll guide you home no matter where you are.
" One day my father—he told me, "Son, don't let it slip away."
When I was just a kid I heard him say,
 "When you get older
Your wild life will live for younger days
Think of me if ever you're afraid."
He said, "One day you'll leave this world behind
So live a life you will remember."
My father told me when I was just a child
These are the nights that never die
My father told me
These are the nights that never die
My father told me

A Zombie Tale

Today, as part of our Daily Five, many children chose to write about zombies.
Here is the beginning of a piece of writing from Charlotte R.....

One night I was in bed, I could not go to sleep so I went down to the kitchen.  I heard an "ooooo aha!"  I didn't know where the voice came from, but I realised that it was a zombie!  I raced upstairs, zoomed into bed, I piled the covers on top of me!  Then I realised I was in a zombie house, it was not really a zombie house, but it was a haunted house.

I wonder what is going to happen next?

Great use of punctuation to add pace to your writing Charlotte :-)

The wise old owl....

We are learning about conflict and how we deal with conflict.

We have learnt that different animals or things can represent our actions when we are faced with conflict.

The owl is a problem solver, they work co-operatively to reach a solution, they express their feeling and look for a win-win situation.

We were randomly put into group today to co-operatively problem solve and create our very own wise old owl.

We talked about what we need to do and then we were let loose with art equipment!  It looked like a hurricane had come through the classroom, but WOW, amazing teamwork and creativity in action!!!!

We will show you the finished product when they are done.

Check out these awesome workers!
Great Teamwork!  Your owl is nearly finished.
This was a very organised group, all had jobs and knew what to do.

Lots of effort and concentration when creating this colourful creature.

We had a few challenges but we problem solved together to get the job done.

We sorted every one a job and we checked that we were confident
with that job before we started.

We made sure that we compromised and didn't complain about
who we were working with.

Autumn Tree

Yesterday, the lovely Mrs Stanbra was teaching in our room.

We read a poem,  made leaves and wrote about them.

Today we looked at similes and used our creative leaves to demonstrate that we could compare objects using this technique.

Don't they look fantastic!!!!!!
Our wonderful tree full of great descriptions!

"My leaf is as beautiful as my Mum!"
  Naw, Cameron P - aren't you lovely!!!!

A great collection of WOW words Todd!

Blaze, I can picture this in my head!  Great idea!

Measuring Magic!

Today we used the virtue of TEAMWORK to show we can use a ruler to measure accurately.  The conversations and support between everyone in the groups was amazing.
Congratulations on helping each other develop their skills.

More great responses to an image

Using the same watery image.....

I see water splattering from the ground
I hear my friends screaming
I feel water in my hair and on my togs
I taste salty water in my mouth
I think I am going to get told off

By Benjamin

I see water dripping down my face as I swing my hair around
I hear the water splashing as we jump in puddles
I feel my togs getting dripped on by falling water
I taste the water going into my mouth, it tastes sandy
I think I am going to get told off by my Mum!

The cutest conversation in maths....

We were talking about measurement.....we talked about how heavy things were, how tall things were, how wide things were and then I asked how we measured age.

This is what we did......
We talked about who was taller and if that helped us find out who was older.

We measured eachother

Even our twins tried to work out who was older by the height they were.

In the end, we thought that when Mums and Dads measured us on the doorway and write 5 years old, our height helped us determine how old we were.  Great connections there.
We thought about it for a while and then decided that it was years, months and days that told us how old we were.
Love how small peoples minds work!

Writing Fun

Today we began a few new activities in our writing groups.
One of these activities was to use a structure to pin our ideas on when thinking about an image

This was todays image:

Q'west wrote:

I see the water shining in the sunlight
I hear yelling and splashing
I feel people touching me with excitement
I think I will slip!

Zavana wrote:

I see people splashing in the water
I hear then laughing because they are having fun
I feel mud all over my feet
I think I could stay here all day.

Keep an eye out for more images and groovy writing for the rest of the week

Much loved Mums

We had some very excited children on Friday, loaded with their Mothers Day treats.
There is so much love in FAB4 for all our awesome Mums.....hope you had a great day :-)

Treats from Germany

It was our lucky day today!
Cameron P brought in some chocolate from Germany!
We looked up Germany in an Atlas (old fashioned I know) but then ended up using devices because it was a bit tricky.

Charlotte L says, "the chocolate was really crunchy."

Jade says, "I thought it tasted like some nuts int he middle."

Chloe says. "the chocolate was yummy!'
Todd having a sample of the chocolate.  Todd says it was nice.

Thanks Cameron for your generosity :-)

Defining Conflict..

We watched this video today to introduce what conflict is.
We had to watch it twice due to a bit of giggling.
This is the beginning of our Cool Schools Mediation learning.
