Awesome house Spirit!!!

Today is our school swimming sports and we just had to share the awesome effort to dress in house colours by Riki-Lee!!!!!!  Go Hammond!!!!!

EGG CARTON MATHS

We found a new way to practice our basic facts today....
We used egg cartons!  We numbered the inside of them with lots of different numbers.  Next we put in two little cubes, then the best part.....Shake it baby!!!!
What ever the cubes land on we have to add them together.
Ashleigh and Aimee were super speedy fast and they got to challenge their skills with a three in a row game.
This would be a great activity to do at home too.
 It can be used for addition, subtraction and multiplication........ the possibilities are endless!!!!

Flat Stanley came to visit today.....

Charlotte had a wee friend when she came into class today, Flat Stanley.
Stanley came from the UK.  Charlottes cousin had to post Stanley to someone they knew.
We think that our Stanley has travelled the most!
We took pictures with Stanley to send back to his original class, we will keep you informed if we hear anything else form Stanley.

Art Intensive!!!!

What an amazing day we had yesterday on our first Art Intensive Day of the term.  The whole school spent a day creating amazing art works.

In room 4 we were making Rainbow Fish!

We watched the story and studied the illustrations.

Following the steps (and there were a lot of them) we supported each other and created truly magnificent pieces of art.

Here we are painting our backgrounds.

We selected special sparkly bits of paper to create our scales.

We had great fun dying the colours for our rainbow fish body.

It was a little tricky to trace around a template for the parts of our fish, but we showed great determination and were very successful.

Now that we had created all the parts of our masterpieces, we put them all together like a jigsaw. It was so hot that the paper started curling and made gluing it down rather challenging.

WOW!!!

We are loving the pool in this hot weather.

We have been working on our kick - keeping the power under the water.  For those that are ready we have been working on freestyle and our breathing.

Hello to all our lovely parents, caregivers and supporters out there...

We have had a fantastic start to the year!  The children are keen learners and have been enjoying catching up with friends and getting to know their teacher.

We have been doing a lot of shared reading and creating awesome artworks as our responses.

In the first week we read 'Splat the Cat - Secret Agent'

We created our own amazing duck collection - you can see some of them in the foyer.
